SEBA strives to be the premier organization for developing science and engineering students into business professionals, and to which business leaders come to engage students.

The Science & Engineering Business Association (SEBA) is a student-led 501(c)(6) non-profit organization founded in 2000 and is a registered student organization at the University of Washington.

SEBA's mission is to provide professional development and career opportunities to science & engineering students through education, networking, and practical experience.

What We Do

  • Provide information about potential professional opportunities and exposure to the real world of business conveyed through our events, website, and newsletter.

  • Offer education, training, and hands-on experience that will help members build skills and knowledge in areas such as business models, leadership, networking, entrepreneurship, consulting, sales, and interviewing.

  • Act as a nexus for science and engineering students, educators, professionals, and businesses for establishing unique contacts that will help our members gain access to exceptional professional opportunities.

SEBA has organized and executed the University of Washington Science & Engineering Career Fair every year since 2006 and its proceeds enable SEBA to be a self-sustaining organization. This career fair unites UW talent with the best companies across the nation.

Science & Engineering Career Fair

Our networking lunch series is designed to connect small groups of students (5-6 per lunch) with professionals in the Greater Seattle STEM community who offer advice related to the desired career paths of our members.

Networking Lunch Series

Every year SEBA hosts several externally organized and led leadership events which help students develop valuable skills in leadership, job interviewing, networking, and growing entrepreneurial ideas.

Leadership Events

Held in partnership with the UW Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship, the STS allows student teams to explore the commercialization potential of their science and technology-based ideas, and network with fellow science, engineering, and business students, as well as with a panel of judges.

Science & Technology Showcase (STS)

Every month, SEBA hosts meetings or workshops designed to help members grow professionally. Meetings feature guest speakers from the Greater Seattle business community who provide insight into their profession or industry.

First Tuesday Meetings

To help develop the greater STEM community, foster cross-campus relationships, and provide members with direct career development experience, SEBA sponsors several on and off campus events as well as sponsors active members to attend professional development events of their choice.

“As a student in the College of Engineering’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, SEBA has been the single most formative influence on my college experience at the University of Washington.”

“In this organization, events and opportunities prepared me for a career in the real world in a way that no other College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, and possibly School of Business service could come close to providing.”
